Main activities
The main project activities and outputs include the analysis of National Innovation Systems in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda and analysis of institutional innovation capacities at partner universities; Development of OERs in the field of Innovation Management and Inclusive Innovation; Capacity building workshops and training of trainers; development of good practices in implementation of the knowledge triangle; creation of a virtual knowledge gateway and innovation hubs; strengthening stakeholder collaboration and consultation.
About the project
The AHEAD project (African Higher Education Leadership in Advancing Inclusive Innovation for Development) is a Capacity Building project, starting on October 15, 2017 and ending on October 14, 2021. The project consortium consists of 15 organizations including four universities from Europe (Romania, Poland, UK, and Italy), an SME from Bulgaria, five higher education institutions from Kenya, two from Tanzania, and three from Uganda.
Aims and Objectives
AHEAD project aims to enhance the management, governance, teaching, research and evaluation capacities of partner higher education institutions from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in view of enabling them to implement the knowledge triangle and better integrate their research, education and innovation functions in support of innovation for sustainable development and inclusive growth.

Erasmus+ is the European Union Programme in the fields of education, training, youth and sport for the period 2014-2020. The action “Capacity Building in Higher Education” contributes to the modernization and internationalization of higher education in the Partner Countries. Capacity building projects encourage cooperation between the EU and Partner Countries and support Partner Countries in addressing challenges related to the management and governance of their higher education institutions.
